Enneagram is an ancient wisdom teaching that is 2,500 years old and comes from Greek “Ennea-gram” which means “model of nine”. It is based on nine distinct personality types that go well beyond our ‘type’ to highlight the main drivers behind our individual expression and behaviour. It is an insightful way of understanding why we think, feel and act the way we do.
Have you ever wondered why people can’t see things from your perspective or do what you would do? Do you keep repeating the same behaviours or communication patterns and feel misunderstood? Does it seem like you are running on autopilot? Enneagram will teach you about the “programming” that is running you, and that is running others, so that you can be aware of its positive and negative aspects. Most importantly, this workshop will provide you with a far greater awareness of yourself and others in day-to-day life and will give you tools to do something positive with the knowledge you have gained.
Successful businesses thrive on their employees knowing how to work most effectively both by themselves as well as part of a team. Enneagram provides empowering insights on how to overcome each person’s barriers to transform challenges into greater achievements and fulfilment. By offering an in-depth awareness and understanding of the “nine ways of thinking and behaving” this workshop enables people within organisations to elevate themselves to far greater levels of success and advantage in a competitive world. The famous “Real Beauty” campaign by Dove was created as a result of the awareness of the Enneagram. Other companies that benefited from using its tools are Google, IBM, Virgin, BBC, Downton Abbey TV series and Hay House Publishing.
After we’d taken the test, we were explained about all 9 personality types. I was surprised by how each one was so distinctly different. As I read, I thought about the people in my life- family, friends, colleagues- who are likely a 4, a 6, or a 3 and how that impacts their perspective on the world.
As a result I gained empathy, patience, understanding and self-awareness. I had so many a-ha moments and so much understanding of events and conversations that had occurred in the past which had affected me.
Now these numbers and their descriptions have become a reference point for me both in and out of work. It’s become a map that helps me navigate the world and consider another person’s frame of reference. It helps me approach relationships and interactions with far more thought and consideration. It’s really been quite transformational.
Enneagrams help to frame how one single event can be construed very differently depending on who perceives it. Understanding the Enneagram can help you put yourself in someone else’s shoes and view the world from their perspective.
There are lots of images which describe the 9 enneagram personality types, so here are a few by way of an initial explanation. The image below reveals each personality type, describing where their attention and energy is naturally drawn to.
This next image provides a more visual representation of each enneagram personality type.
“It changed my life.
“I’ve never thought much of personality tests. But the accuracy and detail of this one blew my mind.
“I was so shocked by it’s accuracy that I couldn’t just stop after reading about my type. I wanted to know about how my type interacted with every other type.

What scares us, makes us.
Led by former lawyer and senior executive, now author and coach Hilary Gallo, the purpose of this punchy and energising session is to discuss and reframe the idea of fear — so that we can do more of what we want to do and less of what’s holding us back.
In this two-hour workshop, we explore what stops us doing what we should really be doing. We discuss where our fears come from and how they end up having such an effect on us.
Fear Hack is a session which enables us to talk about our fears in an open and unthreatening way. By talking about fear we begin to see that the problem isn’t always quite the big deal we thought it was. We learn what stops us, as well as what holds us, our bosses and our team members back. We also learn that we all have similar fears, which breaks down barriers and makes us feel more at ease with ourselves and each other.
Hilary will guide you through conversation and exercises, focussed on the topic overall, but also tailored to the fears and stories that we (and the organisation as a whole) bring with us.
Any organisation that would like to understand and embrace the concept of fear more readily in an open, unintimidating and gentle way.
The session can be framed for leaders and managers with direct reports, or for specific teams. It can be shortened to 1.5hrs if required.
For the past few years Hilary has been talking to people about what scares them and helping them to work through their fears. This book brings together what he has found. Maybe it is about time that we looked at fear differently and asked why it is still, in the 21st Century, such a problem for us.
Hacking here involves looking at fear from another angle. Instead of taking repeated blows at the log from one side, we turn it around and look at it more carefully. It is by doing this that we find a new way in.
What Hilary does is to offer us a breakthrough. Rather than being afraid of our fears, Hilary has an insight to share with us about the underlying framework we use. Instead of fighting our fears what Hilary shows us a way of befriending them. By bringing them close, we can learn surprising things from our fears. Hilary shows us how.
This is no dry academic exercise, for the sake of honesty Hilary has also throws his own fears into the pot so that we can see what happens. This he combines this with his insights into power gleaned from his work previously as a negotiator and his work more recently as an adviser and coach to leaders. Here, we start to see how power and fear work together and that what we see as a power problem is often really a fear problem and vice versa.
Whilst the workshops that Hilary runs deal with fears we can mostly see, the book looks at the deeper fears that shape us. The problem is that our fears and the stories we create from them are not us. They can however end up limiting and stopping us. For anyone who is curious why they can’t change, why they aren’t doing what they could be doing or why something still scares them, this book is the answer.
Fear is a curious thing and there is a reason why the shower scene in Psycho is so scary. Fear Hack shows us why.
In the last part of the book we get a powerful model that re-frames how we see our fears and an opportunity to turn our anxieties into excitement.
Fear Hack is a way of turning our experience from a monster story into a love story.
Here we get to make fear our friend and to come out altogether happier.

Forest Bathing can be used in a number of ways to enhance training and leadership skills in organisations, including building resilience and alleviating stress and burnout. Storytelling has the power to influence and change both individuals and organisations and is an art form increasingly used to sell a concept, idea or set of values both internally and externally.
This session is run by Justine along with writer, management consultant and public speaker Preethi Nair, combining the best of both of these powerful tools and openers. Ideally we’d recommend you allow a full day for this to allow the mind and body to slow right down and engage with the forest environment because it’s here that the magic happens. However, it can also be delivered as a half day experience (we suggest you allow a minimum of 4hrs) and is best delivered for up to 8 people.
We begin with a 2 hour experience in the forest. Together we’ll take time to explore the forest environment, immersing deep into the sounds, smells and textures of a woodland ecosystem. We look at how the forest stimulates all five of our senses and moves us from engaging less with our sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight) and more with our parasympathetic system (rest and recover). We do this through a series of light and easily managed physical and mental exercises, known in Forest Bathing as ‘invitations’.
This is then followed by a 2 hour session weaving storytelling into the experiences you’ve had in the forest. Settling down in our covered woodland meeting house, we’ll now turn to explore the work of a storyteller and see how great stories are put together. You’ll learn about the tools they have at their disposable and then use these to put great stories together both in a group and individual context. You’ll come away with the skills of a storyteller along with a newfound creativity, a fresh innovative perspective and learn the power to influence through story.
The combination is a powerful one, leaving you more connected to yourself and those around you. The positive effects of spending 4 hours in the forest are scientifically proven to deliver lasting benefits to your physical and mental wellbeing and will help bring about greater clarity on the challenges you face. A full day will be an enhanced version of what you see above and the benefits to extending your time, hopefully, obvious.
A full day allows for more time to immerse yourselves; to switch off, slow down and connect more deeply to your woodland environment. We’ll gather to have breakfast together before the morning session begins and share your experiences over lunch. In the afternoon you’ll have a longer storytelling session with Preethi with more time to explore the work of a storyteller. In our experience, having a day has a greater impact on your health and subsequent vibrancy. If you’d like us to organise a location for you so that you can stay overnight to maximise the experience, we work with several locations such as the 5* Gravetye Manor in East Sussex in the Ashdown Forest.
Preethi has shared a platform with Sir Bob Geldof, Kevin Spacey, the head of Green & Blacks & Prêt a Manger and spoken on “talking less & doing more.” She writes for BBC Radio 4 and a number of broadsheets and takes creativity and innovation back to the workplace. She works with leadership teams globally, bringing together the worlds of business and the imagination. She is also on the faculty at Cranfield university, London Business School and at the Financial Times/IE Learning, teaching various modules on storytelling and personal leadership.
This workshop can be taught across all levels from senior leaderships teams and down the line.

Get your team out of the office and into the forest.
‘Forest Bathing’ means to immerse ourselves in a forest or woodland. It is unique in affecting all our senses and by breathing in the essential oils (phytoncides) that trees give off, which are absorbed by the body, the experience has a profound effect on positive feelings, stress hormone levels, sympathetic nervous (fight or flight) activity, parasympathetic nervous (rest & recover) activity, blood pressure, heart rate and brain activity.
Research, primarily conducted in Japan and South Korea, has proven the health benefits of spending time amongst the trees. Every study so far has demonstrated that forest bathing positively creates calming neuro-psychological effects through changes in the nervous system, reducing the stress hormone cortisol and boosting the immune system. Every study conducted so far has shown proven reductions in stress, anger, anxiety, depression and sleeplessness amongst participants. In fact after just 15 minutes of forest bathing blood pressure drops, stress levels are reduced and concentration and mental clarity improve.
Forest Bathing can be used in a number of ways to enhance training and leadership skills. We’ll either choose a location and arrange transportation, or, if you are organising an off-site board meeting or away day at a location where there is access to a forest, we’ll come to the location and run the session form there. The experience can be used in many ways, but a few examples include:
As a trained Forest Therapy Guide with IOFTM, Justine facilitates safe gentle walks, providing instructions — referred to as “invitations” — which are used as ways to open the senses. We spend so much time using our vision that our other senses often get forgotten and are underutilised. Each walk begins with establishing embodied contact with where you are. Next comes a series of connective invitations, often improvised in the moment and adapted to the needs of your group. These may be followed by wander time and/or sit spot. The walks end with a ceremony of sharing tea made from foraged local plants.
Forest therapy walks are not hikes in the traditional sense. An entire walk is typically 2 to 4 hours in duration and often covers no more than a quarter mile distance. In that relatively short distance and time most people experience contact with nature in a much deeper way than they ever have prior to the session. People have a wide range of experiences, some of which they feel are significant, even profound. As a guide, Justine is trained in the skills and perspectives needed to be a supportive witness of these experiences.
3-hours is the minimal time we recommend you should allow for this experience and it is best run for up to 8 people. It doesn’t matter if you are all from one team or spread amongst a few different departments. This is based on you coming to Surrey or Sussex in the forests we work with there. But if you’re short on time, it’s also possible to run a 2 hours taster session. If you’d like us to travel to woods/forest near your offices or for an offsite, that’s also possible.

As modern life becomes ever more mechanised, and the social, economic and political systems we once considered to be robust are becoming increasingly fragile, we are all thirsting for something more to hold onto. We’re yearning for meaning, for ways to feel at home in the world. We long to see the world as we once saw it when we were children: a world that’s full of mystery, bursting with possibility; a world that will challenge us to become all that we could ever hope to be.” Sharon Blackie, Author

The session can be adapted according to level, outlook and challenges. That said, this session can also be run as a 1-1 for someone looking for clarity, a mind shift and a reset.

Kieran Low was once a successful professional rugby player with the world at his feet, turning pro at 18, he became a Scottish international player at 22. Yet he was forced to retire aged 25, after sustaining multiple concussions and a brain injury, during his short, but eventful, career. One of the matches is described as follows.
As the fog finally lifted, Kieran became conscious of his teammates around him, the applause of the crowd and the lights illuminating the Murrayfield pitch were in brilliant contrast to the cold dark sky engulfing the stadium. That moment – 23rd November 2013 – should have been one to savour, Low having made his international debut against Australia. But instead, it’s one where the cursed male ego has ensured it was one of abject confusion.
Did any the 56,000 fans in the stadium register that Low, just 22 at the time, was a blindside flanker who was vacant and playing on autopilot?
“It was my first cap and I was getting frustrated not getting my hands on the ball so took a really bad line towards a ruck the and ran straight into a big Australian fella, I remember thinking ‘it’s my first carry in international rugby, I can’t go off the pitch’. I then took a blow to my head, and I had no idea where I was, but I’ve seen the video and I just played on in autopilot. It was male pride and ego.”
His traumatic experiences both on and off the field led to him searching for ways to rediscover the person he’d lost and through this journey he discovered healing through a natural lifestyle philosophy and holistic approach to health with a strong focus on breathwork and nature therapy. He has learned a huge amount about his life experiences through deep self-exploration and now shares his knowledge and experiences to help others.
Kieren has accepted that the ‘black dog’ of depression is always with him nowadays, but now he understands his predicament he is able to bear it. But it wasn’t always that way. He ended up going through periods of depression and anxiety and just poor mental health in general, understanding the severity of his concussions, but completely unsure sure what to do about it.
And when he began to see a notable decline in his performance as a result of his physical and mental health. he started to drink a lot more and began taking painkillers.
Alongside the many challenges he faced, like many people, Kieran suffered from imposter syndrome the whole of his rugby career, always noticing a ‘lack’ as a result of coming from a working-class family in Sussex who never went to the ‘right’ schools.
Now, in an altogether better place thanks to nutrition, breathwork, nature immersion, exercise and surrounding himself with the right people, Kieran’s varied talks cover:

Namibia receives barely 500,000 visitors a year. And the good news is, that whilst more camps are now emerging, many are linked to conservations projects. Noanib Valley Camp is just one of those.
In a country jam-packed with vast, spectacularly beautiful landscapes, Kaokoland may just be the most incredible of them all. Deep in north-western Namibia, the area is a melee of towering mountains, sand dunes, and huge expanses of desert, scattered with unique wildlife and nomadic Himba settlements. It’s also one of Namibia’s most remote and wild environments, and one that not many will get the chance to discover in a lifetime.
Hoanib Valley Camp is a joint venture between the local communities and the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, the world’s only Africa-wide giraffe conservation organisation. The camp is an elegant, intimate affair that immerses you into the wilds of the desert. The six rooms blend seamlessly with the environment, offering a simple aesthetic that matches the rugged landscape down to a tee. Days are spent tracking endangered rhino, desert-adapted elephant, and of course desert-adapted giraffe, before retiring to a private veranda to marvel at the magnitude of the surroundings.
In the midst of the empty landscapes of Northern Namibia, the rivers in this arid terrain, with few roads and almost no towns, is dry for 50 weeks of the year. Created in a spectacular setting, the camp overlooks one of these sand rivers and is a new venture which is working here to monitor desert-dwelling giraffes. The camp is sophisticated yet leaves virtually no footprint in this fragile eco-system. It also makes a considerable contribution to the Himba people, one of the most traditional of African tribes.
Visits to villages and encampments almost untouched by the modern world are the highlight of any stay at Hoanib. You’ll stay in one of six canvas tents, all with vast beds and local art. The setting is dramatic.
Hoanib Valley’s six guest tents blend perfectly into the rugged environment. The colours, textures and patterns are inspired by the experience of the Hoanib; the rich ochre of the dunes, the geometric patterns of the Himba people and, of course, the giraffe that inspired this project. True to the camp’s ethos they’ve sourced materials local and you’ll find furniture shaped by the local Rundu carpenters and Himba carvers, as well as baskets weaved by the people of the Omba Project in Windhoek. The whole camp is clean and green, leaving virtually no footprint on this fragile eco-system. It’s entirely solar powered to ensure carbon emissions are kept to a minimum, and the tents sit on decks made of a wood, bamboo and 70% recycled-material composite.

The Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) are the foremost experts on giraffe in the world. They are based in Namibia but their work extends beyond Namibia into Zambia, Niger, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda, with their pioneering focus being on desert giraffe in northwest Namibia. Through their extensive work on the ground and partnerships with zoos and universities, GCF have identified four distinct species of giraffe, whereas before there was thought to be only one. This finding has elevated the conservation importance of the different populations. Concurrently, the hunting pressure on giraffe in northwest Namibia has increased while rainfall has decreased, putting Namibia’s iconic desert giraffe under threat. Hence, the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, together Hoanib Valley Camp are creating a strong consistent presence in northwest Namibia to monitor desert giraffe and further understand population dynamics of the most arid reach of this southern giraffe sub-species.
Resilience is essential for people who want to create change. Research conducted a few years ago by Relume, the consultancy which Rowan works helps to run, involved interviewing business leaders, but specifically those who challenge the status quo. Through these conversations, and their own experience of working within high-profile organisations, they noticed a number of common behaviours in terms of what it takes to create a positive disturbance in a department, organisation or market sector.
One of the stand-out findings was that the ability to bounce back quickly from challenging situations was one of these behaviours. Some people even thrived in these testing circumstances.
What was also interesting is that people commonly mistake resilience for endurance. To endure is to continuously push the body and mind to the limit for prolonged periods of time without giving up. It’s the same with companies. Many wellbeing programs ask employees to be well enough to cope in organisations that are increasingly complex, uncertain and fast-paced.
But to be resilient is different. A degree of endurance is still required but it also means recovering quickly and using the experience to learn, adapt and do something different. It doesn’t mean putting up with more of the same.
Using a mixture of insight, real stories and practices, this workshop will help shift you from an endurance mindset to a resilience mindset. To read more on resilience here.

His background as an exec at Accenture and Capgemini gave him the lead as a corporate fixer and negotiator, yet he started his career as a trained lawyer. Hilary is also the author of the book “The Power of Soft”. Having spent decades negotiating deals worth hundreds of millions of pounds, he realised that bullying behaviour rarely got him or his clients the outcomes they were looking for. Over the years he began to develop a new way of approaching negotiations in a gentler manner and soon found his work and home life getting richer. Shomit comes from an intellectual perspective, with a M.Phil from Oxford University and a Ph.D from Cambridge University. He trained as a hypnotherapist under Dr. Keith Hearne and Dr. Roger Woolger, and has spent 30 years studying ancient Indian, Chinese, Egyptian and Shamanic systems of healing. Much of his work over the years has involved an amalgamation of these systems with cutting edge modern western hypnotherapy. The results are both powerful and easy to use. If you get the chance to enroll in some of his mind-blowing workshops, take it. The meditations are some of the most powerful we’ve ever experienced and the stories of his mother’s friendship with Mother Teresa remind you that you’re in the presence of a unique individual who’s giving you a unique insight into the world. If you ever need reminding that the world is a stage and we are merely actors taking up our roles, then best let Shomitt lead you through it, with intelligence, awe and finesse.

Hilary Gallo is a specialist in change. He coaches executives through key transitions and leaders to decide questions of strategy. What started as a negotiation tactic soon became a philosophy for life. His new book is called “Fear Hack” and builds upon the workshop we run of the same name.
