In may we went out into the woods with our incredible herbalist Alice. Twelve ladies joined us for the day and it became 5 hours of pure bliss connecting with each other and with nature. As one of the group said
What an amazing day! We all had a fantastic time and I think Sandrine (whose birthday it was) in particular was quite overwhelmed by the end of the day – she was so happy!
This day was designed to introduce everyone to a wide variety of plants that have been used by our ancestors for healing, nourishment and enjoyment. Spring foraging begins the cycle of the year looking at the first green plants of spring and then see the blossoms and flowers of summer. In the Autumn we run a similar day with Alice, but this time nature gives way to berries, seeds, mushrooms and roots. The focus each of these days give is around gaining an understanding of the qualities of each season whilst using all our senses to help experience the properties of the plants we are working with. Each session involves making a variety of foods and medicines, which together, we carefully pick and then chop and eat around the campfire in the afternoon. It’s a truly wonderful experience!
