A great leader is one who cares. A caring leader creates a culture of openness and inclusivity where difference is valued. They look after the physical and mental well-being of their staff, encouraging self-care and digital disconnection. However, before connecting with others, a leader must first look inwards, be self-aware, care for themselves, listen to themselves and have those difficult conversations with themselves. In essence, caring leadership starts with self-leadership.
In this 28 day programme we’ll look at 3 hugely powerful tools for self-connection. these are:
Understanding and integrating each of these methods into your life has the potential for profound and lasting positive impact. We make learning to breathe, TO connect more deeply with who and what we are (nature) and becoming the author of your own story, simple to learn, amazing to experience and when integrated into your life, offers you the opportunity to radically change how you live and work.
This programme is run as an intimate, small group for 6 people – either as one team or across an agency/ organisation.
The most amazing yet simplest of tools to connect you to yourself is journaling. If you establish a practice of journaling for at least 28 DAYS, it will change your life. Journaling connects you to your authentic self in a way that nothing else does. It allows you to cultivate humility and empathy for yourself first and then allows you the space to do that for others.
In this programme, you’ll learn the art of journaling – not just for wellbeing, but for innovative thinking. There are so many benefits to journaling. Here are some of the standouts:
2. CONSCIOUS CONNECTED BREATH IS A DETOX FOR EVERY LEVEL OF OUR BEING
Humans have been aware of the healing power of their breath for millennia. Through the centuries we’ve developed a vast array of breathing practices, all designed to bring about physical and emotional wellbeing and connect with our deeper selves.
But in today’s society, we often neglect our bodies’ built-in capabilities. Imagine owning the most high specification TV in existence, keeping it plugged in on standby and then living with it for years and years without ever actually turning it on. The fact is, most of us live in ‘standby mode’ most of the time. Breath – the most powerful mechanism is literally right beneath our noses waiting to be explored, yet we rarely give it more than a passing thought.
Conscious Connected Breathing is a powerful and safe way to infuse the body with oxygen and energy, recharging our own (often depleted) systems to work to their healing capacity. It facilitates openings to higher levels of consciousness, allowing us to tap into our deeper resources and live our lives joyfully and in abundance.
The quality of our breath provides a perfect mirror to the state of our inner world. When we are nervous or agitated our breath becomes short, erratic and at times non-existent. When our breath flows smoothly and calmly so does our experience of life. The benefits of regular breathwork are huge, here are just a few:
3. NATURE CONNECTION = SELF-CONNECTION
Learning how to gently reconnect back to nature contains a subtle power – one that reminds us what and who we truly are, taking us back to the interconnectedness which surrounds and empowers us.
When we feel connected to people and places, we feel a sense of belonging and wholeness. We feel ourselves truly alive. Yet over thousands of years, human beings have gradually become mere onlookers. Bystanders, not just to the glory and wonder of the natural world, but also to ourselves, our lives and our understanding of our place in the world.
There seems to be a gentle, yet unmistakable awakening happening. An increased desire to get out into nature. And whether we realise it’s a pull to find our way back to what it is we have lost in ourselves or not, doesn’t matter. Most important is the shift.
Our belief is that in order to thrive, we need to reconnect with who and what we are – all of which is, and can be found in nature. Our specific focus here is the forest. We’ll introduce you to sensory and meditative invitations that will help you find your way back to an easier way of living. One where you intrinsically know and understand your place in the world and how your connection with nature will bring you back to wholeness, happiness and a thriving, well- balanced life. The range of scientifically-backed benefits of regular shrin-yoku practice include:
