Jorge Crecis

Jorge holds a degree in Sport Sciences and studied contemporary dance at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid. As a professional dancer he has worked with a huge variety of companies throughout Europe and has been commissioned as a choreographer by a number of professional companies around the world such as The Scottish Dance Theatre, Beijing 9 Contemporary Dance Theatre in China and the Acosta Danza in Cuba. His latest creation for the dance company directed by Carlos Acosta has been described as “a liberating work… a prodigy of acrobatics, strength and mathematical precision” and was performed at Sadlers Wells’ main Stage in Autumn 2017 to rapturous applause by both audience and press.

As a guest teacher, he has trained the most powerful generation of dancers yet at The London Contemporary Dance School, Beijing Dance Academy, Conservatorio Superior de Madrid and Roger Williams University in the USA. Jorge also leads professional and company classes regularly for companies such as Akram Khan Company, DV8, Punchdrunk and Rambert.

He is currently a PhD candidate at Goldsmiths University of London, focusing on methodologies for training and replicating higher states of consciousness for dancers in performance. Jorge has also applied this research to coach music and film personalities. Due to his outstanding work in dance-practice based research, he has been appointed as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Derby.
