A resolution is defined as ‘a firm decision to do or not to do something.’ An intention is ‘a thing intended; an aim or plan.’ I prefer to use the word intention as there is no option to ‘not do’.
So with that in mind, here are 3 ideas to make very powerful New Year Intentions for 2017….
Consider Others
Native American tribes hold dear the concept that the impact of decisions should be considered for seven generations into the future, so when you are setting your intentions try not to just focus on you, think bigger and deeper than the benefits for yourself. When we focus on something other than ourselves, our ego is less involved which means our intentions and subsequent actions are often wiser.
“Wise people plant trees under whose shade they know they shall never sit”
Stay Focussed
Setting an intention is the easy bit (although that in itself can be hard). The really difficult part is not getting distracting along the way.
Whether an uncomfortable conversation stands in the way of you and success or something more appealing keeps appearing in your awareness … one of the tricks to animating your chosen intention is to stay focussed on it … no matter what.
“When you chase two rabbits, both will escape”
Take Control
I often encourage people to let life unfold and evolve around them and while this is an incredibly wise thing to do (because it stops us creating extra problems) … I must also stress the importance of planning, preparing and strategising.
Remember ‘fate’ refers to a predetermined course of events that is inevitable and ‘destiny’ refers to a predetermined course of events that can be shaped by an individual.
“Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice. It is not a think to be waiting for. It is a thing to be achieved”
