It’s author, Maria Popova runs it as a labour of love and it has a huge following. Describing herself as reader, writer, interestingness hunter-gatherer, and curious mind at large, she has previously written for WiredUK, The Atlantic, The New York Times. Following the first 7 years of the site’s success, Maria wrote about the seven most important things I learned in those years of reading, writing, and living. Much to her surprise and humbling delight, she began receiving a steady outpour of letters from readers, people for whom these notes to herself had struck a deep chord of resonance in their own lives, on their own journeys. We’ve recently come across these ourselves and wanted to share them with you. You can also help support Brain Pickings by purchasing a copy of this as a poster if you wish. It’s an 18″x24″ letterpress poster printed on thick, sustainable cotton paper, inspired by vintage children’s book illustration and mid-century graphic design. We hope you enjoy the illustrations below and even better, help to support Maria’s valuable work.
