These are qualities need in an increasingly complex 24/7 world. This topic will explore what might happen if we integrate more movement into our working day.

This workshop is available as part of a corporate subscription package. Contact us for details.

Negative Narratives

This can be run as a session during an away day, in your office or also be delivered as a live webinar by Zoom or similar platform.

This progressive programme is based on cutting-edge nutritional science, focusing on preventing illness & encouraging a high rate of adoption. It’s designed to:

  • Help staff learn to make beneficial food choices throughout the day to stay energised & focused, manage weight & build resilience.
  • Encourage eating to match heritage & genes to avoid major illnesses that may run in families.
  • Suggest foods to aid relaxation & sleep, mitigate stress & prevent coughs & cold

Work

Here we focus on eating to be energised throughout the working day, building resilience, managing weight, and avoiding burn out.

What can you eat to reduce the risk of coughs and colds? There is also a section on the new field of nutrigenetics and how genetic information can be used to tweak your diet, to reduce risk of switching on genes connected with major illnesses which may run in your family.

This programme includes:

Initial consultation

3 x 1 hour talks

A personal booklet to accompany each talk to keep and refer to

Easy food preparation and demonstrations

Healthy food/snack giveaways as gifts

DNA testing, and one-to-one genetic nutrition consultations and reports*

Nutrition for Performance and Wellbeing

With Suzy Walgate
This session can be delivered as a one hour overview or a series of sessions exploring the effects of different food, and drink on our performance and wellbeing.

Our bodies are miraculous machines that are designed to be fuelled and driven by the food we eat. Food is not just calories, it is medicine – some food is full of good energy medicine and some food is SO unhelpful that it actually robs us of energy while the body tries to process it.

As we deal with life’s many challenges – juggling work life with home life, we want to have a spring in our step, feel a zest for life, enthusiastic about our work, look good, slow down the ageing process, and be at the top of our game.

In this talk we will unravel some of the myths and the confusion that has developed around what we should (and shouldn’t) eat and learn some simple principles on eating for health and optimum performance.

Healthy eating does not need to be complicated or dull. You’ll learn how to make the best choices for your lunch box or what to choose in restaurants and cafes during your working day.  You’ll also learn how to manage your shopping and fridge for tasty nutritious options at home, which allow for a restful nights sleep, leaving you feeling energised in the morning and ready for the day.

Nutrition is foundational to health, and it’s in our hands.  With some simple guidance and a few small changes we’ll help you transform the health of your body and your mind.

Suzy gave a fascinating speech about wellbeing which included effective and fast stress management techniques, nutrition, yoga at the office desk and much more. Everyone was very impressed. Her presentation style was superb, engaging, energetic, and educational, and much of it has been put into practice already!”

AW, Financial Planning Manager at JCH Investment

Open Leadership with Horses – Equine Guided Leadership

With Jude Jennison
We all have the capacity to be extraordinary, so why settle for anything less?

Equine Guided Leadership Development is a unique and powerful way of learning that involves leading horses on the ground through a variety of exercises to gain direct feedback on your leadership style. It’s an experiential-based learning program where you embody your leadership skills, resulting in sustainable behavioural change. You learn your personal impact, both individually and within a team.

No riding is involved and no experience of horses is required. The focus is on leadership skills that can only be learned experientially. You get direct feedback on your leadership impact by how the horse responds moment by moment which will give you the opportunity to recalibrate until you get the results you want.

Why Horses?

Horses mirror your non-verbal communication so you quickly identify the impact of your leadership, explore how to use emotional intelligence with instant feedback and recalibrate to get results. This profound way of learning creates fast results that are repeatable back in every day situations.

We work with horses because they have been proven to:

  • Respond based on the 90% of your communication that is non-verbal
  • Provide non-judgmental feedback by mirroring your leadership style
  • Only interact with authentic behaviour
  • Help you identify your core strengths and highlight the areas where you get stuck, often in the first few minutes of the day
  • Follow leaders and teams who are compelling, compassionate, authentic, clear and work in unity
  • Provide a different environment where leaders learn how to lead out of their comfort zone and take bold action
  • Work as a cohesive team and mirror your team’s behaviour
  • Require you to work collaboratively together
  • Help you identify solutions to long-standing challenges
  • Research from the University of Kentucky showed that people who had attended a one-day workshop with horses showed an increase in self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management.
  • The learning is authentic, sustainable and transferable to all leadership situations that you may encounter in future.
  • People are repeatedly surprised at how quickly behaviours are uncovered and quickly they can change them
What you can expect to gain from working with horses?

Previous clients have reported an increase in confidence, gained clarity on key challenges and overcome barriers to success that were previously holding them back.

You’ll also:

  • Understand your impact
  • Identify your strengths, get feedback on your leadership behaviours and increase awareness of your impact on others
  • Build better relationships
  • Discover how to use the subtle art of non-verbal communication to build rapport, embrace differences and influence others
  • Collaborate more effectively
  • Explore your default patterns of behaviour, find new ways to work with other more cohesively and overcome barriers to success

As well as:

  • Take high-performing leaders to another level with increased self-awareness and ability to recalibrate their approach in the moment
  • Enable more courageous leadership, creative thinking, flexibility and innovation
  • Maximise the use of personal strengths to overcome obstacles and achieve business goals more quickly
  • Accelerate team cohesion through greater understanding of self and other team members
  • Inspire and influence clients and teams with differing personalities and needs
  • Improve relationship and communication skills
  • Be assertive under pressure, without resorting to coercion or avoidance
  • Greater awareness of conflict and default patterns
  • Increase trust within the team and the wider organisation

“I am now more interested in achieving collective results rather than individual success. I have more empathy now, not only with the rest of the team but with others in general.” Jorge Ribeiro, Head of IT Infrastructure, Telefonica

“Jude is the secret weapon called upon by major global brands to help them address hidden leadership issues that are limiting vision, stifling productivity, and damaging trust and team effectiveness.”

The cost

£6025 total for the day which is based on up to 8 people attending. This includes all preparation for your individual leadership team needs as well as including a copy of Jude’s book per person, photos from the day and a follow on 15mins coaching per person. Excludes travel to the location.

Contact us to book and discuss your requirements.  We can bespoke each workshop to your organisational needs, values and vision.

Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

With Jenny Garrett

Ever felt like a fraud at work? You’re not alone and it’s more common than you think. Over 70% of people have experienced the feeling of being a fake at one time in their life. Take these quotes for example

You think, “Why would anyone want to see me again in a movie? And I don’t know how to act anyway, so why am I doing this?

– Meryl Streep

The philosopher Bertrand Russell wrote:

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts

The vast array of problems we face as human beings require the best people to step up. But many hold back because they feel that luck, rather than ability, lies behind their successes. They dread that one day, some person or event will expose them for the fraud that deep down they believe themselves to be. Far from being a realistic self-assessment, the impostor syndrome mind-trap prevents people from believing in themselves, to the detriment of us all.

When I was younger, I just did it. I just acted. It was just there. So now when I receive recognition for my acting, I feel incredibly uncomfortable. I tend to turn in on myself. I feel like an impostor. It was just something I did.

– Emma Watson

Session Outline

Ever felt like a fraud? Had that nagging feeling that you’ll be found out, or are you waiting to feel more confident before you realise your plans or your goals? In this interactive session, delivered as 1.5 hour workshop (and can also be run for a longer durations if required), we’ll dive into uncovering the keys to confidence and overcoming imposter syndrome. You will uncover what drives you, learn how to identify, challenge and replace unhelpful limiting thoughts and beliefs and be introduced to the concept of imposter syndrome. You’ll come away with new strategies, tools and an action plan and uncover an altogether more confident you.

In a 1.5 hour session we’ll cover:

  • Introduction to the session and a definition of imposter syndrome, with an explanation of the difference between a healthy self-image and imposter syndrome.
  • An ice breaker focused on building confidence and relaxing into the session so everyone feels comfortable
  • Imposter Syndrome – a self assessment quiz and group discussion
  • Sharing examples of imposter syndrome – TEDx video and discussion or, if possible, we encourage senior staff from the organisation to share their personal experience of imposter syndrome including some questions and answers
  • Building on the pre-work we’ve done, you’ll be introduced to the unconscious inner divers that could be fuelling your imposter syndrome
  • Learn how to identify, challenge, and replace unhelpful thoughts and beliefs
  • Introduction to the REBT tool and practice in pairs to counter imposter syndrome
  • Action planning and take aways

When I won the Oscar, I thought it was a fluke. I thought everybody would find out, and they’d take it back. They’d come to my house, knocking on the door, “Excuse me, we meant to give that to someone else. That was going to Meryl Streep” – Jodie Foster

Please contact us at hello@thelifeadventure.co for pricing according to your requirements, and any more details you may require on this session.

Pause – a one day micro retreat for B Corp teams

With The Life Adventure
EXPLORE REVIVE ENGAGE : A ONE DAY RESET FOR B CORP TEAMS

Discover the transformative power of somatic movement & conscious connected breath.
Immerse yourself in a rejuvenating experience that will leave you feeling grounded, centred, and deeply connected to your body and breath.

Breathwork coach and Life Adventure founder, Justine Clement, has teamed up with the incredible somatic movement coach, Shaun Brooking, to launch a brand-new 1-day retreat in the stunning Cambridgeshire countryside, specifically for teams from B Corp organisations. This mind and body-blowing experience will take place in, and beside, nature, where you’ll feel more relaxed, more expansive, more creative. It’s an experience where you’ll come away having connected more deeply to your body, to your breath and to members of your team.

Why?

We so often get caught up in the busyness of life, it can be difficult for us to slow down, step back and move forward in a better way. It’s only when we learn this skill that we’re able to fully reset, recover and recalibrate. Instead of a simple respite from the daily grind, this reset day has been carefully designed to empower you with the tools you need to reconnect to your natural internal rhythm. It’s an opportunity for every member of the team to rebalance and return to life and work with renewed energy. It’s also a gentle, yet expansive learning experience too, where you’ll each discover ways of replenishing your energy stores through the power of movement, breath and reflection. But this day is not just about nice-to-have-wellbeing tools. It’s about helping each member of the team create greater impact as a B Corp organisation. It will help to improve team cohesion, so you go back to work not only feeling better, but working better, more effectively, with greater productivity and enhanced performance.

3 key objectives

EXPLORE your surroundings and connect to nature, with an immersive learning experience on the benefits of nature connection
REVIVE your body and mind, by releasing unwanted stress, strain and tension
ENGAGE with others through restorative connection, by sharing as much or as little as you like

Somatic Movement

Gentle movements, performed with intention and at a very slow pace. The goal of this is to shift our attention from the external appearance of a pose or posture, to the internal felt experience of the movement. Through shifting our attention from output to experience, we notice how tension, stress and worry softens, and we learn more sustainable ways of living in our bodies.

Conscious Connected Breathwork

Conscious breathing is a gentle, simple technique that helps you to open up the full potential of your breathing system for better physical and emotional well-being. It’s been demonstrated to have many benefits, including increased energy, better immune response and increased ability to deal with stress in a healthy way. In the session Justine will give a short intro and you’ll lie on your back, with the whole group breathing together.

Nature Connection

We’ll immerse ourselves in the healing properties of nature. By exploring the four elements of water, wood, earth and sky, we reconnect to our own organic nature, and discover how these elements support us in our daily lives. Research shows that connecting to organic elements can elevate mood, reduce feelings of isolation, promote calm and decrease inflammation.

Wood-fired hot tubs and sauna

The bathing space at our beautiful location invites you to relax in red cedar, wood-fired hot tubs and saunas which are situated outdoors. Whilst your body regenerates and detoxifies immersed in hot water, you are also exposed to daylight, your lungs are filled with fresh, clean air and your eyes rest upon natural, green spaces. The benefits can be felt all year round – whatever the weather.

Why choose this?

The whole team will leave with more vitality, feeling far more relaxed, less stressed and importantly, equipped with tools to maintain it all after the day. You’ll be guided by two experts in their field through explorative movement situations, tuning deeply into your physical, emotional and personal self via your breath, and feel comfortable getting curious about what you can do with your body. Not only that, you’ll also learn how to connect more deeply with nature (and therefore yourself) and other members of the team whilst spending some important downtime in our location’s wonderful outdoor wood-fired hot tubs and sauna.

Who it’s for:

  • Teams feeling over-stressed, overwhelmed, tired and needing/wanting to reset their sleep rhythms.

About Shaun Brooking

Shaun is a coach, mover, thinker and educator. In his past life as an athlete, he learnt the hard way – the world of performance and fitness is not about health – burnt out, injured and lost. He’s spent the last 15 plus years figuring out what it means to be in a body and live to his full potential without the cost to his health. He has studied across many fields – neuroscience, physiology, embodiment, movement and spirituality – and integrate these to help people build life-long skills. These skills help you buffer the effects of stress and anxiety, give you the ability to unplug and slow down, and perform in a sustainable way.

About Justine Clement

Founder of The Happy Prize Company and Breathwork coach, Justine was born curious and adventurous. She’s spent the last 15 years exploring ways to live and feel better through ashtanga yoga, kinesiology, Celtic shamanism and mythology, psychotherapy, plant communication and mindfulness, to name a few. For many years, she was a self-confessed ‘on-the-go’ CEO and no words of warning from others about the importance of slowing down, could stop her. She only really listened after a series of injuries forced her to stop. Her slow recovery invited her to start learning how to ‘be’ as well as ‘do’.

Asha fire pit.jpeg
About the location

There is magic in the air here. Tolkien was enchanted by the Forest of Dean and inspired to write ‘Lord of the Rings’. J K Rowling spent her youth in this area, too, enriching her imagination. Located on the edge of the forest, the ASHA Centre is a British educational charity and magnificent 500-year-old Georgian home surrounded by five acres of biodynamic gardens.  Until now it has been used as an educational retreat centre. It has a warm relaxed feel – a home, rather than a hotel.

It was founded by the human rights campaigner and author, Zerbanoo Gifford and for the past 15 years has been solely focussed on running and hosting transformative, holistic, educational programmes for the empowerment of young people from across the world, designed to bring about lasting inner, social, and environmental change. It is a rather special place with its own herb garden, a Peace Grove with fire-pit and orchards.  The Secret Garden includes a labyrinth surrounded by a sacred grove of indigenous trees planted by the Druids.

The rooms are traditional and comfortable, both in the main house and the stone cottages on site. Our sessions are based in the tranquil studio, spreading out to the grounds. The main practice space has a gorgeous panorama of the site, and the evening skies host glorious sunsets.

The centre was specifically designed to include spaces of inspiring, natural beauty for quiet contemplation. Furthermore, it is powered by sustainable energy from a biomass boiler and solar panels.

About the food

The Asha in-house retreat chefs will prepare 2 simple organic vegetarian meals per day for lunch and dinner, plus breakfast of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, and organic bread. On your day of arrival there will be lunch and dinner and on your departure day there will be breakfast for our final meal all together. We cater to your individual dietary requirements – simply let us know what you need.

INCLUDED
Pause In The Forest is designed to leave you feeling renewed, revived, detoxed and recharged. You’ll learn how to connect to your body, align to your potential and live life in your full expression.
Somatics | Movement | Conscious Connected Breathwork | Cold Water Immersion (Sacred Forest Well)  Shinrin-yoku (Forest Bathing)| Guided Forest Walks | Contemplation in sacred groves |  Nourishing food | Fire pit ceremony | Journaling and more

That was an AMAZING experience! I don’t think I expressed that enough. Everything was outstanding. Shaun and Justine created a safe environment for everyone to let go of our resistance, feel all the feels and embrace change. It unlocked something deep within me and I left feeling transformed and willing to try new things

Justine Wonderbreath in session.JPG
Conscious Connected Breathwork

Wonderbreath is a form of Conscious Connected Breathwork.  Therapeutic in nature, this is a gentle, simple, healing technique that helps you to open up the full potential of your respiratory system for better physical and emotional well-being. It’s been demonstrated to have so many benefits, including deepening your relationship with yourself, increasing energy levels, giving greater emotional clarity, improving your immune response, and increasing your ability to deal with stress in a healthy way. These are powerful group sessions where Justine will guide you through each session, called ‘a detox for every level of your being’ and no experience is necessary.

Shaun Soho.jpg
Somatics & Movement
Somatic movement invites you on a journey through the internal landscape of the body and moves us into the ‘felt’ sense, giving us a break from our ‘thinking’ selves. These are gentle movements, performed with intention and at a very slow pace. The goal of this is to shift our attention from the external appearance of a pose or posture, to the internal felt experience of the movement. Through shifting our attention from output to experience, we notice how tension, stress and worry softens, and we learn more sustainable ways of living in our bodies. The combination of Somatic movement and Breathwork with Shaun will ignite the deep healing powers of your body from within.

Cold Water Immersion (Sacred Well)

There are several options for this right near ASHA, but our favourite has to be the water at Saint Anthony’s Well – whose name dates from the medieval period – is known as a holy, or sacred, well. Prehistoric flint implements have been found in the spring’s vicinity as well as Iron Age and Roman artefacts and it seems likely that the well was a ritual site for a long period of time. The spring, which runs into the gardens at ASHA, is reputedly very ancient and in front lies a stone ‘bathing pool’ built by the Romans – three feet of deep, clear, totally unpolluted water. Saint Anthony’s Well water is always extremely cold and for generations, local people have bathed in it for the treatment of rheumatism and arthritis.  It’s just a short, five-minute walk to the well from the house, through the forest and lies in an open area of stunning beech trees. So whether you want to dip, or watch, you’re guaranteed a very magical experience.

Shinrin-yoku (Forest Bathing)

Forest bathing, a literal translation of the Japanese term Shinrin-yoku, is scientifically proven to improve our health. It means to bathe in the atmosphere of the forest with your five senses to improve your wellbeing. Countless Japanese studies have revealed how it boosts our immune systems, reduces our stress hormones, reduces our blood pressure, enhances our mental wellness and bolsters our brain health. It can provide emotional healing, improve our sleep-wake cycles, improve relationship skills, reduce stress, and reduce feelings of anger and aggression. These gentle introductions to the practice of forest bathing including sensory and meditative exercises, taking time to explore our woodland landscape, tuning in to our micro and macro awareness of nature and noticing how it communicates with us.

MEET SHAUN AND JUSTINE
Shaun-Brooking.webp
Shaun is a coach, mover, thinker and educator. In his past life as an athlete, he learned the hard way – that the world of performance and fitness is not about health. And he ended up burnt out, injured and lost. He has spent the last 15 plus years figuring out what it means to be in a body and live to his full potential without the cost to his health. He has studied across many fields – neuroscience, physiology, embodiment, movement and spirituality – and he integrates these to help people build life-long skills. Skills that help you buffer the effects of stress and anxiety, give you the ability to unplug and slow down, and to be the best you can be.
Justine .png

Justine, founder of The Life Adventure and a certified Breathwork coach.  She was born curious and adventurous. She’s spent the last 15 years exploring ways to live and feel better through ashtanga yoga, kinesiology, Celtic shamanism and mythology, psychotherapy, plant communication and mindfulness, to name a few. For many years, she was a self-confessed ‘on-the-go’ CEO of an experiential travel company and no words of warning from others about the importance of slowing down, could stop her. She only really listened after a series of injuries forced her to stop. Her slow recovery invited her to start learning how to ‘be’ rather than ‘do’. She’s also a certified Shinrin-yoku guide with the International Society of Nature and Forest Medicine (INFOM)and set up/runs the Selsey Sea Bathing Society to encourage people back into the cold water.

Peak Performance Through Movement (MASTERCLASS)

With Jorge Crecis
Increase personal impact, reduce stress, have more fun
Why this is something you should try

Our body is the most immediate tool we have. Working on our bodies not only enables us to become more efficient, but surprisingly, it also teaches us how to have more fun on a daily basis. This, in turn, increases our personal impact on those around us. In this workshop, which ideally runs for 4 hours, but we can reduce down to 2 or 3 hours if time is short, we’ll share simple, powerful and widely proven routines taken from years of working with top-performing artists, to tap into an ideal peak performative state of mind, at will.

• Less judgment + full commitment = your full potential is released
• Habits disappear in order to leave space for efficacy and immediacy
• Games are very serious things. Games push us to do our best and have fun at the same time

What you’ll be doing

Have you ever wondered why dancers and rock stars possess a special charisma? That special something that attracts everyone’s attention? How they perform at their peak every night? And why they have an amazing presence and vitality?

For many years Jorge has worked with dance personalities such as Carlos Acosta and music legend Paul McCartney, amongst others. Now, for the first time, we’re sharing the secret of their vitality to other professionals, who’s careers demand a high level of physical and mental performance.

This workshop combines the energy of high-performing movement with the creativity of performing arts. By capturing the spontaneity and the immense concentration of being in the moment, you’ll be pushed into an enhanced presence of mind.

How it runs

Day Schedule (4 hours, but can be adjusted to suit your schedule)

Arrival and refreshments (15 mins)

Entering peak performance (1 hour)

o Welcome and introduction
o Mind/Brain Warm up. Gentle physical tune up.
o Demystification of the act of performing: embodying presence

Break and refreshments (15 mins)

During performance (1.5 hours)

o Games are a serious thing: throwing and catching bottles
o Problem solving in real time: it gets complicated
o The Jackie Chan effect. Switching on and off

Break and refreshments (15 mins)

Exiting performance (45 mins)

o Transference to daily life: case study
o Last exercise: the secret of peak performance
o Questions and optional follow up

This workshop is not about teaching dance. It’s about teaching real people with real problems how to embrace life and enjoy every scenario that’s thrown at them. You’ll be amazed at the results.

The follow up

For four weeks following the initial group session, participants will be given a daily task to implement from what they have experienced during the workshop and incorporate it into their daily life and routines. These tasks will be provided through WhatsApp or email, along with access to a collection of continuing resources.

What people say

“Game changer”

“I feel physically activated, mentally focus and ready to fight the right battles”

“Through this experience, I learned the power of motivating and reinvigorating a tired body and I found a new strength for my daily routines”

“The body is great, and so is the mind – it was a liberation!! Thank you so much.”

“No matter the hours of sleep I have one day or no matter how tired I am, the exercises help me to stay focused and fully involved in what I am doing”

“I explored these aspects in very concrete terms and I came to realise that performance has nothing to do with magic, but rather it can be trained and enhanced. “

“It is rare to find classes like yours and more rare to find people like you to inspire other people”

Presenter Jorge Crecis

Jorge holds a degree in Sport Sciences and studied contemporary dance at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid. As a professional dancer he has worked with a huge variety of companies throughout Europe and has been commissioned as a choreographer by a number of professional companies around the world such as The Scottish Dance Theatre, Beijing 9 Contemporary Dance Theatre in China and the Acosta Danza in Cuba. His latest creation for the dance company directed by Carlos Acosta has been described as “a liberating work… a prodigy of acrobatics, strength and mathematical precision” and was performed at Sadlers Wells’ main Stage in Autumn 2017 to rapturous applause by both audience and press. As a guest teacher, he has trained the most powerful generation of dancers yet at The London Contemporary Dance School, Beijing Dance Academy, Conservatorio Superior de Madrid and Roger Williams University in the USA. Jorge also leads professional and company classes regularly for companies such as Akram Khan Company, DV8, Punchdrunk and Rambert. He is currently a PhD candidate at Goldsmiths University of London, focusing on methodologies for training and replicating higher states of consciousness for dancers in performance. Jorge has also applied this research to coach music and film personalities. Due to his outstanding work in dance-practice based research, he has been appointed as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Derby.
